Thai island Koh Samet closing for two weeks

Thai island Koh Samet is closing to visitors and non-residents for at least two weeks due to a spike in new Covid infections. Eastern Rayong province recorded 21 new cases with at least one linked to Koh Samet.

Koh Chang may also go into lockdown, and is only allowing residents on or off the island for essential reasons. All Koh Samet’s hotels and resorts have been ordered to close until at least 10 May.

Tourists with bookings can postpone their trips or get a full refund from their accommodation. Thailand reported 2,179 new Covid-19 infections on Tuesday.
