Sunday, 14 Jul, 2011 0

India’s major cities are in security lockdown after three simultaneous explosions caused deaths and injuries in India’s financial capital Mumbai lat night.

Twenty-one people were killed and 141 injured, said Maharashtra state’s chief minister, Prithviraj Chavan.

Suspicion has fallen on terrorists groups and also local underground criminals.

The attacks came during Mumbai’s evening rush-hour and the bombs, which are believed to be home-made, were placed in some of the busiest parts of the city.

The attacks are the deadliest in Mumbai since November 2008 when 10 gunmen launched a three-day co-ordinated raid in which 166 people were killed.
