Hong Kong Airlines plans to start the first direct flights from Hong Kong to Australia’s Gold Coast.
Queensland tourism minister Kate Jones announced the three times a week service beginning January 8, 2016.
The carrier will also serve Cairns with a connecting flight.
Overnight flights depart Hong Kong for the Gold Coast, with a morning onward connection to Cairns.
Flights leave Hong Kong every Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday using a 292 seat Airbus A330 aircraft.
"Our business development and marketing team have been working with Hong Kong Airlines and distribution contacts in China for two years to bring this service to fruition," said David Collins, chief operating officer of Gold Coast Airport.
"We are well aware of the demand for services between Gold Coast and China, and are confident this thrice-weekly service will perform strongly," he added.
