Bath Travel hives off business travel arm

Saturday, 02 Nov, 2010 0

Bath Travel’s Bournemouth-based business travel arm has been taken over by WEXAS, owner of White Star Cruises.

WEXAS, based in Knightsbridge, has also taken over Bath Travel Business Travel’s Bournemouth-based team of 20.

Managing director Steve Allen said: “We’re delighted to welcome the Bath Travel Business Travel team into WEXAS, and are looking forward to working together to enhance our existing high quality businesses."

WEXAS also owns a leisure travel club and WEXAS Travel Management and it is the publisher of Traveller Magazine and The Traveller’s Handbook.

"We are keen to grow all three of our businesses and this move strengthens our corporate travel arm. Whilst the travel sector is still affected by the current cautious economic outlook, 2011 will be a year for further renewal, consolidation and change within the industry,” added Allen.

Stephen Bath, joint managing director of Bath Travel said: “We’re delighted that WEXAS are taking on our business travel team. We know that they will add further value for our clients and also enhance the career opportunities for our team.

"By making this change, we will focus on building on and developing our leisure business, which has always been our primary focus”.

WEXAS has 30,000 members subscribing to its leisure travel tailor-made service, and over 400 companies and organisations handled by the travel management division.

Bath Travel Business Travel was formed in 1993 and has major accounts across a range of business sectors. The team of 20 will operate from their current offices in Westbourne under the Bath Travel Business Travel brand.
