KUALA LUMPUR – AirAsia group chief executive Tony Fernandes has assured his followers that his health is okay.
Fernandes fainted at KL’s Low Cost Carrier Terminal on Monday evening after attending AirAsia’s Penang-Singapore inaugural flight celebration earlier in the day.
Writing on Twitter, Fernandes assured those concerned for his health: “Am fine. Resting at home as the doc ordered. Everything’s okay and am just exhausted.â€
While he’s taking time out, the AirAsia CEO might want to run his eye over recent comments by Ryanair budget airline boss, Michael O’Leary.
Undaunted by Ryanair’s pre-tax loss of 180.4m euros in the 12 months to the end of March, O’Leary predicted, “In the coming winter, there will be a bloodbath in the industry.
“We will hopefully cause most of that and the losers will be BA, easyJet and other high-fare airlines,” he said.
O’Leary is still looking at the on-board lavatories as a source of extra revenue although he has discounted asking passengers to pay to use them.
However, he added, “If we can get rid of two of the three toilets on a 737, we can add an extra six seats.”
Hopefully, not in the toilets…
