  W All-Inclusive Punta Cana, Dominican Republic is slated to open in late 2024. The launch is expected to mark the debut of W Hotels both in the Dominican Republic and in the all-inclusive space - a brand known for its modern, bold luxury service with a vibrant ambiance. Situated on the picturesque shores of Uvero Alto, this adults-only, all-inclusive, new-build resort is anticipated to feature 349 guestrooms with balconies and plunge pools, as well as several suites. Plans for the resort include a spa with 11 treatment rooms, three dazzling pools with pool bars, 11 dining and drinking destinations, and immersive, dynamic adults-focused programming.

  All-Inclusive by Marriott Bonvoy is also set to introduce new properties in 2025. Adding two Mexico-based properties to the portfolio, new-builds JW Marriott All-Inclusive Costa Mujeres and W All-Inclusive Costa Mujeres, both will be situated in sunny Costa Mujeres located in the Cancun area. The brand also recently announced two additional new build properties to open in Brazil’s Maricá region. Located in Rio de Janeiro, a new destination for the brand, the two hotels will be a JW Marriott All-Inclusive, which will expand the portfolio’s all-inclusive luxury offerings within South America, as well as a themed hotel inspired by the country’s most popular music festival, the Rock in Rio, joining as a part of the Autograph Collection.   EXCITING RENOVATIONS AND RE-OPENINGS    Marriott Cancun, An All-Inclusive Resort, Mexico will re-open as an all-inclusive in spring 2024, becoming the first Marriott branded all-inclusive resort in the world.   The iconic, award-winning hotel, previously named Marriott Cancun, has been Marriott International’s legacy property in the Yucatan Peninsula for several decades. The re-opening will unveil redesigned rooms and suites as well as a core facilities make-over, expansive pools and aquatic attractions, innovative restaurant concepts and nightlife experiences.   The resort will also be the first to launch CAMP Club, a new partnership between Marriott Bonvoy and CAMP, the experts in family experiences, set to roll out across the rest of the portfolio after a successful pilot program in 2022. Set on a stunning stretch of the Platinum West Coast, the intimate, adults-only property is ideal for lovers of food and gastronomy with Chef’s Table experiences, interactive culinary workshops and art crawls.   Adults-only The House, wellness-focused Waves Hotel & Spa and charming Tamarind will also re-open as Autograph Collection properties at a later stage. Marriott International has marked the milestone of 50 hotels open in Thailand. It comes as the Madi Paidi Bangkok, Autograph Collection officially welcomed guests. Marriott expects to add a further 10 hotels by the end of 2024. "We are absolutely delighted to celebrate the 50^th hotel opening, marking a major milestone," said Jakob Helgen, Area Vice President. The company entered the Thailand market 27 years ago. It now has Thailand hotels in 15 brands located in more than 10 Thai destinations. "With the support of our associates, we will continue to redefine the hospitality landscape," Helgen added. The Ritz-Carlton brand is set to debut in Bangkok in 2024 in the upcoming One Bangkok mixed-use development. The newest Thailand hotel marks the debut of Autograph Collection Hotels. The Tribute Portfolio brand is also expected to debut in Thailand next year with the opening of Tribute Portfolio Metropole Bangkok. Other expected openings this year include two Marriott Executive Apartments in Sukhumvit 50 and 101, alongside the Le Méridien Phuket Mai Khao Beach Resort. Additionally, the flagship Marriott Hotels brand is also set to debut in Khao Lak in 2024. Later this year, Moxy Hotels will debut with the opening of Moxy Bangkok Ratchaprasong while Courtyard by Marriott adds another two new hotels, one near the Suvarnabhumi International Airport and in Phuket.

Marriott International and MGM Resorts International have joined hands in a long-term strategic licensing agreement. It sees the creation of MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy, which will launch in October 2023. It covers 17 MGM resorts, representing more than 40,000 rooms in Las Vegas and other US cities. Select MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy resorts will be available for booking via Marriott including Marriott.com and the Marriott Bonvoy mobile app. All properties are expected to be available to book by the end of the year. These MGM resorts will continue to be available on MGM Resorts’ booking channels. “This historic, long-term agreement brings together two of the most trusted and iconic brands,” said Bill Hornbuckle, President MGM Resorts. “We’ve seen first-hand the strong demand from Marriott International customers through our existing relationship at The Cosmopolitan.” The agreement will also benefit members of both companies’ loyalty programs. Members of MGM Rewards will be eligible to link accounts with Marriott Bonvoy and receive select member benefits. Members of Marriott Bonvoy will be able to earn and redeem points for stays at all MGM Collection with Marriott Bonvoy properties. Eight MGM resorts in Las Vegas will join the Collection. Marriott International has made a pledge to hire around 3,000 refugees by 2026. It made the announcement as it marked World Refugee Day. The company will take on 1,500 refugees throughout Europe within the next three years. It follows Marriott’s commitment to recruit over 1,500 refugees by 2025 in the United States. Marriott CEO Anthony Capuano announced the initiative during the Tent Partnership for Refugees European Business Summit this week. “Our focus on creating job opportunities has already led to over 970 refugees hired across dozens of our hotels in the European region,” he said. Some Marriott hotels are providing recently resettled refugee employees with resources like on-site translators, prayer rooms, and assistance with navigating public transport. Marriott launched a careers site listing opportunities for refugees looking to apply for positions in the US. Since 2016, Marriott’s support has helped the International Rescue Committee train almost 1,000 refugees in the US in hospitality and workforce skills. This year, Marriott is supporting IRC’s Hospitality Link program in Tucson, AZ, and Denver, CO.

Marriott International has inked five new management deals for Africa hotels in its Protea Hotels by Marriott brand. The signed projects expand its presence across the continent which stands at nearly 140 properties in 20 countries and 19 brands. “Protea Hotels has a long-established legacy in Africa, and we are excited to further strengthen the brand’s footprint,” said Karim Cheltout, Vice President - Development, Africa. “While we continue to see demand for new build opportunities, the brand is seeing an uptick in conversion projects.” The five locations are Serowe, Botswana, Bahir Dar, Ethiopia, Zanzibar, Abuja Jahi, Nigeria and Warri, Nigeria. Marriott International is bringing the Aloft Hotels brand to Singapore. It signed an agreement for the Singapore hotel with Hiap Hoe Limited, as the largest Aloft hotel in the world. Following a conversion, the 785-room Aloft Singapore Novena expects to open in Q3 2023, marking the Aloft brand’s debut in the Lion City. Aloft Singapore Novena will comprise two towers and is strategically located in Zhongshan Park, a mixed-use development. “We are thrilled to announce our third collaboration with Marriott International as we venture and introduce the first Aloft hotel in Singapore,” said Mr. Teo Ho Beng, Chief Executive Officer, Hiap Hoe Limited. Dining options at Aloft Singapore Novena include a modern Chinese and local seafood restaurant, and a Halal-certified buffet restaurant. It will feature an outdoor pool, gym and modern event spaces. This Cancun legacy hotel, previously an European Plan hotel and converting now to All-Inclusive, is slated to be the first Marriott All-Inclusive in the world and will be featuring new design in the guestrooms, ballroom, fitness center, and kids club. The renovations also include 9 new restaurant and bar concepts, a new pool area that includes a family pool, a water park and a lazy river, all surrounded by refined daily and nightly entertainment and with the Mexican Caribbean Sea as a backdrop. Travelers will be able to rediscover the experiences at Marriott Cancun, An All-Inclusive Resort when it opens in early 2024.   Delta Hotels by Marriott Riviera Nayarit, An All-Inclusive Resort   The Delta Hotels Riviera Nayarit, the first all-inclusive resort from the Delta brand and the first to surpass the borders of USA and Canada, is enhancing its guests’ experience with new additions to its offerings. Marriott International has inked an industry-first agreement with Latin American tech company Rappi, Inc. The collaboration aims to increase loyalty earning opportunities for both Marriott Bonvoy members and Rappi users. Marriott Bonvoy members will soon be able to link their Rappi and Marriott Bonvoy accounts. This will unlock exclusive benefits, like earning Bonvoy Points for qualifying Rappi purchases while offering additional benefits to Rappi Prime users. It is the first strategic collaboration with a global hotel company and a Latin American tech firm, Marriott says. “Working with an innovative startup allows us to keep providing more everyday earning opportunities for members,” said Diana Plazas-Trowbridge, Marriott regional chief sales and marketing officer. Marriott Bonvoy currently has over 5.8 million users in the Caribbean and Latin America. The collaboration extends its services to Rappi's more than 30 million users across nine countries in Latin America, including Argentina, Brazil and Chile. Rappi offers restaurant, grocery and pharmacy delivery, ecommerce and travel, and a Prime subscription service offering free delivery and numerous other benefits.

Marriott International has completed the hotel acquisition of the City Express brand portfolio from Hoteles City Express. It marks entry into the affordable midscale segment while launching Marriott’s 31^st brand. It will be known as City Express by Marriott. "We are thrilled to expand our portfolio into the affordable midscale segment,” said Leeny Oberg, EVP, Development. “The City Express brand acquisition is an important first step as we enter this attractive segment.” It positions Marriott as the largest Caribbean and Latin America hotel company. The existing City Express hotel portfolio, consists of about 150 properties, which are now part of Marriott’s franchise system. They include urban, suburban, and extended stay properties in Mexico, Costa Rica, Colombia, and Chile. The transaction has increased Marriott’s presence in the CALA region by approximately 45% to over 480 properties in 37 countries. The City Express portfolio consists of five sub-brands: City Express, City Express Plus, City Express Suites, City Express Junior, and City Centro. The City Premios loyalty program will be integrated into the Marriott Bonvoy platform.
