In the lastest airline news, Boeing announced another (reported here) delay in the first delivery of the first 787 Dreamlines because of an electric fire that sent smoke into the cockpit.
There were no injuries from the incident and Boeing has renewed its testing of the plane.
The new airplane has had repeated delays, causing some carriers to cancel proposed new routes.
At the same time, Virgin American Inc. ordered 60 Airbus SAS planes valued at US$5.1 billion. It British-based airliner plans to double its fleet while cutting its carbon footprint, said a spokesman for the company owned by British billionaire Richard Branson.
“Cutting the carbon footprint and nitrogen oxide emissions is a big part of what Virgin’s about,” said CEO David Cush.
