UK airport festive strikes off
Proposed strike action at BAA airports has been called off following talks.
The airport workers strikes, the first of which was set for this Sunday, will not take place because BAA has reached an agreement with the Transport and General Workers Union over pay. The news will come as a relief to air passengers with plans to travel over Christmas and the New Year.
BAA deputy chief executive, Mike Clasper said:
“Our primary objective in coming to the talks today was to ensure travel over Christmas was not disrupted. We’ve agreed and signed a pay offer that the T&G will recommend for acceptance. The offer is just under 8 per cent over two years.”
