Thomas Cook UK and Ireland chief executive officer John Bloodworth will step down at the end of this year.

The Thomas Cook Group said it was a joint decision due to a difference in management approach.

It said Bloodworth will be assisting with the integration of Thomas Cook and MyTravel and with other projects until March 31.

The search for a replacement has begun, but until then, Manny Fontenla-Novoa, group joint chief executive, will assume direct responsibility for this business division.

He will be supported by Frank Pullman, executive director airline, Jurgen Buser, chief financial officer UK and Ireland, Peter Constanti and Ian Derbyshire, executive directors holidays

Group chairman Thomas Middelhoff said: “‘The Board would like to thank John for his significant contribution to the MyTravel Group and for ensuring that the merger of MyTravel and Thomas Cook Group ran smoothly and that the synergies within the UK and Ireland businesses are on track to be realised.

“We appreciate John’s continued assistance in the UK over the next six months.”

Bloodworth said: “I wish my UK team and the Thomas Cook Group much success and all the best for the future.”
