Chennai Airport re-opens
Flights have resumed to and from Chennai Airport in southern India after a week of devastating floods.
Air travel had come to a halt after heavy rains left the runway and taxiway completely submerged.
Local services and infrastructure have been
severely disrupted and are slowly being restored.
"Some roads have subsided," the Foreign and Commonwealth Office advised. "You should continue to monitor local and international updates from the media and follow the advice of local authorities and your travel company."
A massive relief operation is underway to get food and medicines to the tens of thousands of people affected.
