Cardiff hotels charge over a grand a night during Rugby World Cup

Tuesday, 10 Sep, 2015 0

Hotels are attempting to cash in on this year’s Rugby World Cup in England and Wales by hiking prices by an average of 184%, according to a new survey.

It found the biggest increases were in Cardiff, where a room that cost just £85 this time last year has risen to a whopping £1081 on the night of the quarter final at the Millennium Stadium on October 17.

However, accommodation search site Trivago claimed prices had increased for each match in each host city.

It found rooms on match nights cost an average of £261, compared to just £92 during 2014.
